 Registration Information
Registration is $225 for APHE members and $275 for non-members. This fee includes two days of conference sessions with lunch and break refreshments, the pre-conference mixer on Wednesday evening, and dinner on Thursday evening.
All food provided by APHE will be vegetarian or vegan.

 Conference Location
The conference will take place at the Detroit Zoo at 8450 W 10 Mile Rd. in Royal Oak, MI.  Tours of the facility will be available during the conference.

Conference attendees have the opportunity to showcase their new and innovative programs, lessons and resources at the Sharing Corral. Participants will display information and talk to attendees during the morning break and lunch on Thursday, April 11.

                       Dinner and Benefit Auction
Join us on Thursday, April 11th for a complimentary dinner coupled with silent and live auctions to benefit the Nathania Gartman Memorial Scholarship Fund. Quality humane education materials as well as fun items in a range of prices will be included.

Contributions from individuals, businesses, and organizations are critical to the success of the benefit auction. The valuable and unique items contributed from around the country are what make this auction so special. APHE encourages its members to solicit donations or to donate your special purchases to help raise money for this vital cause.

 Optional Excursion - Growing Humane in Detroit 
On Saturday, April 13 from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., we'll take a bus tour throughout Detroit that showcases some of the blossoming grassroots urban gardening initiatives happening in the city.  Our tour will be led by the Urban Garden Program Manager at Greening of Detroit. To learn more about the powerful urban gardening movement happening in Detroit, watch the Urban Roots trailer at www.urbanrootsamerica.com
We'll conlude our tour with a locally-sourced lunch prepared by People's Kitchen Detroit which will include a discussion surrounding the potential to use humane education as a tool for social change in Detroit.
 The $45 fee for this optional excursion includes transportation, lunch, and donations to each organization.


 Nathania Gartman Memorial 
Scholarship Fund
Do You Need Financial Assistance to Attend the APHE National Humane Education Conference? APHE members in good standing for at least eight months may apply for financial assistance through the Nathania Gartman Memorial Fund. Scholarship awards are intended to offset part of the cost of attending (travel, registration, lodging). Full scholarships are not awarded.

                                Hotel Information

The Westin Southfield at 1500 Town Center in Southfield, MI is offering rooms for $109 plus tax per night.  Rooms will be available at this rate until March 18, 2013.
APHE will provide transportation between the hotel and the Detroit Zoo each morning and afternoon.


 Airport Information
The 2013 APHE National Humane Education Conference is taking place in Metro Detroit.  The local airport is Detroit Metro Airport (DTW). 
You can also travel to the Conference via Amtrak or Greyhound.
For transportation between the airport and the hotel, we suggest using Metro Cars or Metro Airport Taxi.
